Author Interview with Vashti Quiroz-Vega

For the record, what is your name and what is the title of your latest book?

My name is Vashti Quiroz-Vega and my first novel, The Basement will be releasing soon.Vashti Quiroz-Vega

Why did you write your latest book?

It started out as a short story I wrote in high school. I got an award for it. My husband came across it one day and encouraged me to expand it into a novel. I did, and it blossomed into a Middle Grade/Young Adult Suspense/Thriller.

How did you get started writing?

I have always been a writer, I just didn’t realize it until later. What is it that makes you want to be a writer? I have ideas and characters in my head fighting to come out. I can’t imagine not writing.

If an unpublished author asked you to give them one piece of advice, what would it be?

Write, write, write and read, read , read! It’s the only way to get better.

If you could only publish in a single genre, what would it be?

Fantasy

Why?

Who wouldn’t want to create worlds?

Why should readers read your book?

The story presented is to entertain you, on the surface of things. Deeper underneath, it is presented to show you many things. I touch on the issues of child abuse, bullying, friendship and conquering your fears.

Who is your favorite author of all time and who is your favorite author writing now?

I would have to say Stephen King and Dan Brown.

Do you think ebooks should be protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM)?

Absolutely.

Why?

Because to a writer, our written works are more http://premier-pharmacy.com/product/doxycycline/ valuable than gold.

If you could improve any single aspect of yourself (physical, mental, whatever), what would it be?

I would go back in time and become a writer much sooner than I did.

What question do you wish I had asked that I did not?

Do I have any upcoming novels? I do. I recently finished my second novel, Lilith, and I am currently writing my third novel, Dracul. They are both YA/Adult Fantasy novels, and are the first and second installments of my Angel Fantasy Series.

Vashti Quiroz-Vega works in the medical field as a Registered Medical Sonographer, but has always loved to write. In elementary school she made comic books and sold them to the other kids for twenty-five cents and in middle school and high school she wrote plays and musicals, which were performed in school and church by her classmates and friends.

One day while cleaning she found a bunch of short stories she had written throughout the years and decided to venture out and expand one of them into a novel. She was unaware (and a bit insecure) of the extent of her talent as a writer. The handwritten short story blossomed into a suspense/thriller called The Basement.

Realizing her talent for weaving yarn and her love for words Vashti is now dedicating her time to writing and she has two more works on the way.

Vashti is happily married to her husband JC and has two little dogs Rascal and Cocoa. Raised in New York City she now lives in south Florida. She loves traveling, illustrating and spending time with her family and friends.
