Author Interview: Jordyn Meryl

An author interview with Jordyn Meryl

For the record, what is your name and what is the title of your latest book?Jordyn

My author name is Jordyn Meryl. My latest book is “The Space Between”.

Why did you write your latest book?

I went to a Bob Dylan concert with my grandson and dreamed the story. I got up at 4:00 am and started writing.

How did you get started writing? I started five years ago.

I have always had stories in my head, but never could get them on paper.  The invention of the laptop and spellcheck gave me the tools to write. What is it that makes you want to be a writer? Always have wanted to since high school, but life-marriage, kids, jobs got in my way. Now is my time to do it, so I am.

If an unpublished author asked you to give them one piece of advice, what would it be?

Just write the story.  The story is the most important part.

If you could only publish in a single genre, what would it be?

An unclassified genre of Love Stories Why? I love a good love story but not always with a ‘happy ever after’.

Why should readers read your book?

For enjoyment. To escape from life and live in the story.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000039_00004]Who is your favorite author of all time and who is your favorite author writing now?

Of all times, haven’t read them yet. As a young mother I read main stream Harold Robbins, Sidney Shelton, Mary Stewart.  I guess Margret Mitchell wrote the great American love story for me. Now. Nicholas Sparks and Dean Koontz.

If you could improve any single aspect of yourself (physical, mental, whatever), what would it be?

To be as young as I feel. I am at a point in my life where I am going for the gold.  I love this time, but hate the age.

What question do you wish I had asked that I did not?

My childhood. The first time I was asked that I was very evasive.  My childhood sucked, father died, stepdad mean.  But thinking about it, I created a make-believe world to escape the real world. That’s where the stories come from. So it is a major part of why I am a writer.

Thank you Jordyn.
